[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] On the 17th, stocks related to superconductors rose sharply following news that a domestic research team had made a world-first discovery of an "electronic crystal," a state that exhibits both liquid and solid characteristics.

Mobiis saw a significant increase, closing up 23.56% at 3,855 KRW. During the trading session, it even reached 4,055 KRW, hitting the upper limit.

Additionally, other stocks such as Seonam (up 5.18%), Deokseong (up 2.76%), Power Logics (up 3.09%), and Shinsung Delta Tech (up 1.58%) also rose. These stocks had surged more than 10% during the day but later trimmed gains due to profit-taking.

Earlier, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that Professor Kim Geun-su's research team from Yonsei University's Department of Physics had published research in the international journal Nature, revealing that electrons within solid materials exist in an "electronic crystal" state, possessing both liquid and solid characteristics. The discovery, which had previously only existed in theory, raised hopes in the market for advancements in high-temperature superconductor and superfluid phenomena research.

Professor Kim explained, "Until now, academia has viewed the arrangement of electrons as either ordered or disordered, but we have recognized a third state." He added that understanding the characteristics of this state could lead to a better understanding of the properties of superconductors and superfluids.
