[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] The wage and collective bargaining agreements for six Naver subsidiaries have collapsed, and the Naver Labor Union has initiated its first official dispute. The union plans to escalate the strike and engage in long-term protests if there is no progress in negotiations.

On the 12th, the union declared the breakdown of negotiations and held a rally in front of Naver’s office in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. About 600 members from the six subsidiaries participated. The subsidiaries involved include Green Web Services, Studio Rico, NIT Services, N-Tech Services, Incomz, and Companters.

The union claims that these subsidiaries perform Naver's core tasks but are structured under subcontracting, leading to discriminatory wages and benefits for the same labor. They are demanding that special incentives be recognized as regular wages, similar to those at Naver, and that welfare disparities be addressed.

Studio Rico has requested global incentives to be recognized as regular wages, and that their salary increases align with those of Naver Webtoon, Naver’s parent company.

The union plans a second rally on the 27th of this month and warns of expanding the strike and pursuing long-term protests if there is no change in the negotiating stance.
