[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] LIG Nex1 will supply integrated solutions, including command-and-control systems and communication equipment, for Peruvian Navy vessels.
The company announced on the 26th that it had signed a contract worth approximately ₩60 billion with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. The agreement includes providing core equipment for 3,400-ton frigates and 2,200-ton offshore patrol vessels by 2029.
The equipment will be installed on vessels being constructed through a partnership between HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Peru’s state-owned SIMA Shipyard and delivered sequentially to the Peruvian Navy.
This deal highlights the success of Korea's defense industry in offering a comprehensive approach by combining platforms with tailored solutions in global markets.
LIG Nex1’s combat systems and electronic warfare equipment are optimized for the operational environment and specific requirements of the Peruvian Navy, strengthening the competitiveness of South Korea's defense sector.
The company’s combat systems integrate sensors, weapons, and communication technologies, enhancing mission capabilities and vessel survivability. Additionally, its advanced electronic warfare equipment provides capabilities for detecting and countering anti-ship missiles, jamming a wide range of frequencies, and gathering enemy communication intelligence.
LIG Nex1 previously expanded South Korea’s defense exports by supplying the "Haeseong" anti-ship missile to Colombia in 2012. With this Peruvian project, the company aims to solidify its position in Latin America and expand further into Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
