[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Pelicana Chicken has issued a public apology after an AI-generated advertisement featuring an infidelity-themed storyline sparked backlash online. The company has since removed all related content from its official channels.

On May 10, Pelicana said via its official Instagram account, “We sincerely apologize for the discomfort and disappointment caused by the recently uploaded content.” The company acknowledged that the video had been published without sufficient consideration of appropriateness and public sensitivity during the production process, adding that it had caused unease and concern among viewers.

“We have taken down the content in question,” the company stated, adding that it will strengthen its content planning and review processes to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The controversy stemmed from an AI-generated promotional video posted by Pelicana, which depicted a fictional narrative involving a married couple of fried chicken characters. The storyline suggested infidelity after the couple—portrayed as fried chicken—had a “seasoned chicken” baby, prompting the husband to suspect an affair. The video also included a scene in which a pelican doctor character attempts to seduce the husband.

The ad drew criticism online for trivializing infidelity and using it as a comedic device, leading to widespread negative reactions and prompting the company’s apology.
