[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, June 4 — A lawsuit filed by Barun Law LLC against Cho Hyun-moon, former vice president of Hyosung Group, has been unexpectedly delayed as both sides clash over evidence submissions.

According to legal sources, the sixth hearing in the 4.3 billion won ($3.1 million) fee dispute was postponed shortly before its scheduled date, with no new hearing date set.

The case centers on a disagreement over success fees for legal services. Cho claims Barun failed to properly represent his interests, while the law firm maintains it fulfilled its duties and is entitled to payment.

The delay stems from a dispute over evidence, particularly time-charge records. Barun argues its timesheets sufficiently demonstrate work performed, while Cho’s side has challenged their credibility and demanded access to system log records. The court recently rejected the request, prompting Cho to file an immediate appeal.

The trial is expected to resume after the appellate court rules on the evidence issue. Meanwhile, Cho has also sought disciplinary action against Barun through legal associations, while the firm dismissed the move as an attempt to exert pressure.
