[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Medytox has abruptly canceled a planned media briefing on its non-animal, liquid-type botulinum toxin product Innotox, drawing attention to the reasons behind the last-minute decision.

According to industry sources on June 8, the company had initially scheduled a press event to present research findings on Innotox’s heat stability and to highlight its suitability for combination aesthetic procedures. However, just over a week after announcing the event on May 27, Medytox postponed it on June 5, citing internal circumstances.

Market observers interpret the move as a sign that Medytox reconsidered its product-focused marketing strategy shortly before the event. Some analysts suggest that the company may have faced challenges in fully substantiating claims related to heat stability and multi-procedure applications based on existing data.

Concerns have also been raised over potential regulatory, quality, and legal risks associated with the product, particularly given its formulation and past history. The promotional materials reportedly included references to high-temperature environments and consistent usability—areas that may require further validation.

The planned event was also seen as part of a broader shift in Medytox’s academic and marketing strategy following recent leadership changes. The company had been moving toward more proactive external communications, positioning Innotox at the center of its product narrative.

Notably, the event would have marked Medytox’s first major media briefing in nearly a decade. While a 2016 briefing focused on disputes over botulinum strain origins, the latest event was intended to emphasize product value rather than litigation issues—highlighting a strategic pivot that now appears to have been paused.
