[Alpha Biz= Ellie Kim] SK ecoplant has announced plans to dismantle and reconstruct portions of the Bujeon–Masan double-track railway after identifying construction errors exceeding allowable limits.
According to the company on May 26, detailed inspections conducted during pre-opening preparations—jointly with the project operator and supervision team—revealed deviations in rail height and alignment beyond the permitted tolerance of 3mm. The maximum deviation was found to be as high as 82mm.
SK ecoplant said it promptly reported the issue to relevant authorities, including the Korea Rail Network Authority and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and has been coordinating corrective measures and cross-verification plans.
Following an on-site inspection, Minister Kim Yoon-duk of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport officially ordered reconstruction on May 25. The project will now undergo immediate dismantling work along with third-party verification across the entire section.
